The doop automated calf feeder

Why Choose doop?

Our automated feeding system delivers better results with less work

Cheaper Automation

Looked at automation before but found it too expensive? doop feeders are considerably cheaper and less complex than in-shed systems.

Less Effort

Fill the feeder once per day. The feeder will automatically feed the calves on demand throughout the day, so you can get on with other jobs.

Better Replacements

Controlled feeding means all calves get their share. Get more nutrition into calves faster without worrying about milk scours.

Heavier at Weaning

Research shows that well-fed calves are heavier at weaning, which means more profit for you.

Better Animal Welfare

Calves can access milk when they are hungry (based on a pre-set feed regime). You won't hear well-fed calves constantly calling out for food.

Best-in-class Weaning

Weaning is a crucial time for maintaining weight gain. Careful ration management will gently push calves to starter and solid feed without jeopardising weight gain.

How It Works

Getting started with doop is simple

1

Get Your Calves Ready

Ensure your calves have a NAIT ear tag. The system to auto-detect new calves and add them automatically using a default age and feeding profile.

Fine tune calf details and assign a specific feeding profile that ramps up the volume fed to the calf as it grows, then gently weans the calf as they reach maturity.

2

Fill the Feeder

Milk is added to the doop feeder (aka the dooper). This can either be whole milk or CMR powder. When using CMR, the powder can be mixed using the optional built-in circulator mixing system.

3

Let the Calves Feed

Calves approach the dooper and are identified by their RFID tag. The dooper then dispenses the correct amount of milk for that calf as per the recipe. Once the calf has finished feeding, the dooper will retract the teat. Calves can feed when they want, but only drinking what they are allowed.
